It isn't American or British, it's the young audience. Roasts have happened forever now and are hilarious, every celebrity has been roasted. But teens and parents in the audience don't get it. Simon got it though. Roasts used to be held on purpose giving the person time to prepare to be insulted, but often it comes intertwined in some speech. I guarantee any judge, if they were told "comedy central is going to hold a roast for you" they would be ok and laugh and take it on the chin. And Howie saw this after reviewing it.

Well he mostly didn't lie. They just didn't know that "comedy" meant "funny for us, not for you". And the "happiness" part, that too wasn't technically a lie since plenty of people were and are happy with his performance.

Lots of people have gone on BGT to make jokes about the judges and it was absolutely hilarious! No one took it seriously. I wish we could have a good laugh in the US as well. But his way of delivering the jokes was a bit off tbh.

Maybe since the show is "family-oriented" the producers probably told the judges to say no and for the audience to purposely boo. I mean I'm surprised Howie, the comedian himself, said no.

Most British humor is a bit more hardcore and they aren’t as strict about family friendly content. Most American humor is more toned down and caters to being family friendly. The reason Simon was loving it was because that’s exactly the humor he loves. If Alex went on Britain’s Got Talent, he’d definitely be a huge hit. At least, that’s what I think

Especially when they say we're gonna see a "roast" comedian and you get what amounts to elementary school friendly jokes..The biggest offender was the uhhh I guess "joke" about Simon..The british teeth thing has been played out and the trump jokes was already tired and beaten to death at this time..I honestly can't remember much more because it was that soft and forgettable..But I do actually watch comedy and I assume this talent show is mostly viewed by soft white age 30+ women which is a black hole of comedy.

Maggie's Lab it’s good. it’s refreshing how blunt he is. a lot of “comedians” that go on this show water down everything. all the kids suck imo and aren’t funny. their entire act is just being a kid and not actually being funny. they don’t get kicked off JUST because they are kids. if a grown man did the same jokes as a kid then he would definitely get kicked off for being unfunny.
