The way this brotha tied in the beginning with the end, and wrapped each phrase around an emotion that pulled at my heartstrings, makes his name one to remember. I guess what I love the most about him is that he was unafraid to attempt to create a new lane on this show, or create a new spotlight to be used on that national stage. What I love the least is nothing. This brotha is seasoned and worthy of applause.

I was also a former police officer. But he is using that voice negatively. Had he used a name like David Dorn or Archie Williams who was wrongly accused. I would completely agree with his messaging. But using the names he used, he condones the activities of those people. Comply with officers and if you were unfairly treated. You can always file a complaint.

If only the whole world could live their life through this lens.. maybe we’d realize our mutual understanding of love is more important than systemic injustice. ♥️

@@Mr_Magoo_ Just ignorance. Resisting arrest shouldn't be solved by immediately killing someone. Also what was Breonna doing in her sleep when she was shot dead? Why does being high make it alright to kill? None of them where criminals, except maybe Jacob. You're ignorant if think you think any of these things deserve execution. Re-think your argument or at least try to be convincing. Just ignorant.
@dallaswinston330
@dallaswinston330 4 жыл бұрын
@@vanilla50 ^ execution shouldn't be the answer to being high or resisting. In the situations we had the police had no reason to kill. Like if the other person is shooting at you or swinging a knife at you, It's at least justified. But pushing back a little to breath, or push back because you don't want to be arrested. Shouldn't require to be shot, suffocated, stabbed, or anyway to kill someone. Literally hold the arms and legs. Or just have another officer help detain the person.

@@dallaswinston330 Breonna's boyfriend was shooting at the cops. Nothing at all to do with race. The other thugs were violently resisting arrest, on drugs, and earned their fate. ALL COLORS care and worry about their children and families just as much as blacks do! I'm white and I will do anything to protect my family, just like my mother would have. My siblings mean the world to me and I worry about them all the time, wherever they are. At home, in the store, on the road, everywhere. So I don't appreciate everyone acting like blacks are the only ones who have to worry about their families. To me, he sounds racist. Acting like these people who are only caring about blacks getting hurt or killed by whites when there are plenty of whites getting killed. Actually, a lot of whites are getting attacked and /or killed by blacks. Like a 5-year-old white boy who got shot in the head while riding his tricycle or a white guy who was just walking down the street and minding his own business got hit in the head with a brick by a black guy. And blacks are also getting hurt and /or killed by other BLACKS. Like that little black girl who was killed when her mom made a U-turn and accidentally went into some riot zone, or all those black store owners who got robbed and looted by black rioters. Those blacks didn't care if they hurt or killed their own race as long as they could rob from them. If black lives matter then why don't ALL lives matter? Now, please don't get angry or cuss at me, this is just my opinion.
@blessedone726
@blessedone726 4 жыл бұрын
@@teamawesome5153 Sorry my comment upset you and I understand you worry too, however it is a fact that African Americans are killed by the police at a higher rate, incarcerated at a higher rate than whites. No he does not sound racist, he is just spitting the truth of how a black mother feels. The dude that shot that precious child in the head is a POS who was immediately captured and prosecuted for that senseless murder, but how long does it take to prosecute the cops that killed George Floyd or Breonna Taylor along with the white guy who was killed by the cops in the same fashion they killed George Floyd because those cops have not been prosecuted either. I respect your opinion, however respect ours as well. I am really tired of hearing each time someone of color speaks up about the racial injustice in this country about how all lives matter. Sure they do because GOD created us ALL. Until blacks are afforded the same respect and privileges as Americans and all racial differences are stamped out, black voices are going to speak out. Besides ALL violence needs to be halted be it black or white. That is what I believe. Blacks need to quit killing each other and other races, whites need to quit killing whites and other races, etc. The cycle of violence needs to stop, period. All of the hate, all the differences need to be stopped and we all need to be one under GOD who is the ultimate ruler....that is if you believe in HIM. But all of that is just a dream isn't it?

Dear Brandon, My little sister died too young. You reminded me how I failed her as a big sister. You loved yours like a sibling is supposed to. My little sister Cathy looked up to me when we were kids & I let her down. Because of your spoken word I am reminded of that but you said everything I feel every day for the past 27 years so thank you for that. I've lived all these years without my best friend, we were supposed to grow old together. I hope your spoken word story about your little sister reaches many hearts who don't even consider how much they look up to us. I hope many will take responsibility for that and step up. I hope you win the show. Your spoken word story last night made me cry again. My heart is broken for all those you mentioned and one you didn't:. Elijah McClain. I will never forget the beautiful soul I never met and like you said all I have is the terrible truth as I watched & listened on the internet but his memory lives in my heart an unknown senior lady who silently mourns with his family. If I had been blessed to have children of my own how proud I would be to have sons like you.

Someone who has warrants, someone who doesn't follow police orders. I would hate to think that you are a person that would try to hurt a officer, someone that is just doing their job. I have never seen someone get shot for no reason at all. Almost the whole world would agree that George Floyd shouldn't have died. If only he would have followed police orders and NOT fought back. Brandon reminds us all of humankind's earliest origins of social gathering around a camp fire listening to a storyteller and brings us together in our common experience. We're so focused on the evolution of the story into song, dance, music, or comedy that we have all forgotten how powerful a story can be. Too often the message can be lost in the awe of the performance. In Brandon's case, we are left little choice but to hear the words without distraction. Rather than standing on the shoulders of giants to see afar, he moves us to look within and rediscover who we are and in that shared experience realize that we are one. Looking back at all of the performances I've heard over the years among those that Brandon reminds me of the most is those I heard from John Denver. John was also able to tell stories and bring people of all walks of life together in song. At live concerts, I looked forward to hearing John tell his story about the writing of the song before he started the song as much or more than listening to the song itself. John, RIP. To date, I haven't experienced anything close to John's memorizing stories and voice...until now. While I don't expect Brandon to pick up the guitar or take vocal lessons to fill John's shoes I'm so glad to see story telling make its way back on stage. Howie often brought up the importance of topping previous performances to take it to the next level in each round. I haven't the slightest idea how Brandon would top his two previous stories. Best of luck and I hope we all get a chance to find out. It is going to be a very interesting final if we are faced with comparing singers (of which there are many ridiculously good performers to pick from) to Brandon's story telling. I guess if we call stand up word that makes us laugh Comedy than Brandon bringing us all to tears would be the return of Drama to the stage. While it makes complete sense to us all now, how did we all miss it for 15 years.

Dear Brendan, your passion and expression of a word in its rawest form has made such a profound effect on many of us. Then I think hey Brendan, has God sent you a message? " You" sharing the rawness of words coming from the heart, the mind with such intense passion. With all that is going on in the world, of mind manipulation, lies, "FEAR" of each other. The "MASK" I call it the "MUZZLE" WHY? because humans are naturally social creatures. Now, this has come to a stop....we are now, unsure of the future, because the power of words was used to mess with our heads in the worst way. The world needs you "BRENDAN"!!! No pressure❤, my HEART feels so grateful! Here" YOU ARE", Much Love to you, God Bless you Bendan 💚💙💜🙏

@@chadwickscott8084 Orwell's 1984 is about totally control, controlling every aspect of life that sort of thing. With all due respect I seriously disagree that this is anything like that, this 'one-sided narriative' that keeps popping up is simply people telling there story. Racism isn't something that just started all of a sudden and is now everywhere it's been here and happening for years,it's been what people deal with their whole life's for decades the only reason it's now shown a bit more is because people are getting the courage to share their story's and sadly there's plenty of them. This poem is just describing one story of many,I'm sorry if you see so much of these story's and dont like it but that's only because they happen that often.

Der König I don’t usually respond to trolls but you literally have no idea what lead to the shooting so why assume he was a criminal? In fact, even if he was, you telling me getting murdered is part of being arrested? You probably have nothing better to do than be disrespectful on a keyboard yet I doubt you’d say that to the parents face. And if you did, that just shows how inhuman you are. So either stay silent and learn what compassion is or continue to spread that negativity because either way black lives matter and will continue to matter.

its spoken word this type of poem is less about the way it sounds like an actual 'poem '. It focuses more on word play and the intonation of his voice. Its not supposed to flow beautifully and sound like words put together. It's supposed to mean something. Using the way he pronunciate things or the way he makes sound to make the meaning more impactful
