The problem is she wanted attention for singing but they didn’t invite her back for singing. The show wanted ventriloquism not singing n I n others were disappointed

@edwardthetwentyfifth6462 she's never been just the "puppet girl." Darci said right after winning AGT at 12 that she was more than just a ventriloquist, and she's proven over the years by singing solo at her variety shows. Singing solo has always been her number one passion.

She does have a good voice, but it makes me very sad she left her puppets. I know it’s up to her, but the truth is, there are better singers than her. Ventriloquism made her unique.

The judges should have been more supportive and commented on her stellar performance instead of saying, "You did that." She'll be a successful country singer who can also do ventriloquism. I hope she always follows her own path.

@@alyssakellander3874 I think the judges are also smart in expressing disappointment. Whether or not they truly like her, they know the reason she is on the show, why people like her, and what she is going to be hearing all of her life. Simon, at least years ago, I really appreciated because he always said things that were on point and simply realistic. And I think he's being realistic now. Does that mean he's not supporting her? I don't think so. I think the best form of support sometimes is expressing what needs to be heard. Darci is doing a good job of punching herself out of a box she's made for herself, and she is going to face commentary about it. It's better for her to not go uncontested instead of all sunshine and rainbows over it.

Do you know what hurts more than the truth? Failing because you weren't told the truth. The truth is, she is a fantastic ventriloquist, one of the best. As a vocalist without being a ventriloquist, she is good at best. Not great. Maybe her most loyal fans will go to see her sing, but not neary as many who would go see her play with puppets. But, she should do what makes her happy for sure.

Good for her!!! She was so young when she won with ventriloquism, that was who she was then. She's grown up and is being who she is now. How many 19 year olds are the same person they were at 12? How many WANT to be the same person they were at 12? We grow up for a reason. Darcy was born with a gift and if we go back and watch her original audition for AGT she tells how shy she was and how the puppets brought her out of her shell.... she now has the confidence to go out and follow her heart and pursue her dreams! Congrats Darcy! Keep being YOU!!!

Mylie Syrus was a success as Hannah Montana. Now she is a gross adult. Darci doesn't sing well as herself. She is trying to fix something that is not broke. As for her songwriting, it is not good. Her perfection with her puppets and their writers shows her true talent. She is failing Too bad.

I’ve always wanted to hear her sing just her honestly, because to be able to do all that puppeteering and sing you have to be a really capable singer so this was great to hear tbh.

You don't have to be too smart to understand she loves to sing and wanted to do it in the first place but was too shy and the puppets helped her. She is grown now, more confident, even more talented, and it's OKAY to see her putting the puppets aside to have her moment. Her voice is really beautiful and I hope we see more of her.

She’s using this show in such a smart way! Considering she’s already successful, she no longer has to rely on winning to “make it big.” Taking risks and promoting her new projects is so incredibly smart. For people who have never seen her before, they know her as an amazing musician to later find that she’s also an amazing ventriloquist. Having multiple talents is never a bad thing and though she’s being risky, she is doing a great job at promoting herself to be more than a ventriloquist.

She's a successful entertainer, but by far not a successful violonist - no classical concerts, competitions, etc. I guess this is their problem with Darcy too, she's doing something she's not a pro in and seemingly giving up what made her who he is, in a competition where singing is not what makes her unique.

@@andreidinu7316 Her original audition was 6 years ago when she was 12 and even there her main thing was singing, just with a puppet, clearly in her last audition she wanted it to be more about her singing as she has grown as a person, I get it that as a singer she's just not gonna win this competition since singing wise she's not as talented as other competitors but if that's what she wants to do then she should do that, her whole puppet thing was ages ago when she was again, 12, people change.

Darci is good, but Chapel Hart is amazing. Singing is a very crowded field at AGT. I applaud Darci for exploring her sphere of talent, but maybe a national competition is not the right place to try out new strategies.

And the nice thing is, she doesn't actually have to choose. She even proved it with her previous act. She can add in some ventriloquism, whether in song, in jokes/talk between songs, or both. If a current star walked out adding a puppet to their act, ppl would assume that it was prerecorded or that someone else was voicing the puppet offstage. Darcy has shown her stuff. She can mix and match for a concert if she wants, but shouldn't have to :) (I'm agreeing btw... in fact, Im pretty sure she kinda tried that for her holiday concerts awhile back)

Mel at the end has a point. She was brought back because of her ventriloquism. As a singer, she’s fine. Is it good enough to win? No, but I don’t think she cares. Some people want to grow and don’t want to be known for just one thing, and I respect her for that.

It bothers me that the judges didn’t address her singing voice or her songwriting. Both were very good and they were just focused on the fact that she wasn’t doing a puppet. It would’ve been good to give her feedback on her actual performance! Oh well. More power to ya, Darci Lynne!

Agreed. They didn't say a word about her voice or the song. It's as if the judges weren't even listening to what Darci did because her not having a puppet was that distracting.

The Fantasy League competition was about bringing back the best of the best in the talent that each contestant performed previously on AGT. That's why the judges wanted Darci to do full fledged ventriloquism as she had done before. They should have praised her for a spectacular performance, but if you noticed they all were smiling at times and all the judges applauded her at the end.

I mean seriously think about it. Darci just dropped her music video for this song. She has already won AGT. She's gotten to maybe her peak in ventriloquism. If she didn't win this fantasy thing it really wouldn't matter much. On the other side, with the dropping of the music video this was a perfect choice to get eyes on that and to help her in her own career. She wants to sing. She has to branch out and make it as a singer and then with credibility as both a singer and a ventriloquist she can mix and match the talents as much as she wants.

Yes, the audiences loved it when she comedically jabbed the judges during her old AGT days. Now that she has made her point by singing alone, do that ventriloquist comic approach again.

Honestly she's already won a season before so why should she need to follow what she's always been doing? She's trying something new and I think she's just seeing this as an opportunity to exit her comfort zone. She's not here to win she's just here to have fun.

She did so good, and one thing is that she is 19 and she isn’t little anymore, and also when she was doing ventriloquist she was also singing, but in a different voice, and now she is here singing in her own voice, and I love the song.

I'm telling the same thing in a different way.. as you said, she ruined herself in this show., but she could've won the show.. judges are not wrong in the first act, she completely go with her own gut and didn't listen at all, even though everyone praising her braveness, it shows the arrogance. @@jixer1956

I agree with Mel. Darci has a good voice, and it’s great that she wants to expand her horizons. However, Darci was asked to perform in Fantasy League based upon her ventriloquism act. Solely for this reason, this wasn’t the right time for her to switch up her act. Outside of Fantasy League? I wish Darci nothing but success, and I hope she continues to pursue her dreams. 🎶 ❤️

I completely agree, she wouldn't of won AGT at all if she was just a singer. We the masses see a hundred new singers a year and forget most of their names within a few weeks. Unless theres something unique about a particular act that makes it memorable, then its just another nameless singer no matter how good they sing. Honestly its very rare that a singer wins anymore because we are numb to the endless streams of new singers. We like acts that have something different. But then again thats just my opinion.

I think the something different could have included her ventriloquism, even if it were to say that she was giving one of her puppets a time to rest, if that makes sense. She's incredibly talented as both a ventriloquist and a singer. What I miss though is the banter between her and her puppets and the humor she brought to her performances. If she had said that she would come back to the program as a singer instead of a ventriloquist, I wonder if any of the judges would have brought her back.

Who cares? She did this performance not because she wants to win AGT, but because she is promoting her music, and her single that just came out. Not everything is about winning, and she doesn't owe fans anything, especially not them holding her talents hostage. Also, I think more people support her decision than all y'all haters, just saying. With or without puppets she is a phenomenal singer!!! Remember it was HER that was doing all the singing with those puppets and she displayed her versatility at singing with those puppets from Italian opera to Etta James and everything in between!! Well Done Darci!!

I have to agree with what Mel B is saying. She should’ve come back to a normal season singing, this particular season was to bring back acts that the audience fell in love with. Obviously, I also understand her point of view, she wants to show she has more things to offer, it’s very understandable.

Darci said, when she first came on agt that, she was too shy and needed the help of her puppets to display her talents(singing and ventriloquism) and now that she finally gets on that stage and sings with her mouth, the judges aren’t supportive and she doesn’t move on…..The results😢are rigged. That original was absolutely amazing.
