Yea, he did By being the first person to talk his way through the contest. With the sob story at every single turn.

@@theoutsiderspost4982 yeah the point of spoken poetry is to be emotional, to make yourself vulnerable. that's why it's so moving. It's not a sob story, that's just how you write the best and most meaningful poems. not surprising that people wanted someone with a new act to win instead of a kid singer

I want to see more. I love the whole concept. The ability to instill feelings with just the spoken word.

what's soooo cool about seeing this is that I auditioned this year and am also a storyteller of sorts. Only then watching others acts I began to wonder what I possibly thought I was up to, considering many others use music in syncing their feelings and words to. When next I realized, "oh yeah, my stories are known to hypnotize!" Bringing you along on a wild side ride. And I snap back from the trance I fell in just as I begin to grin... thinking, "Just once, hand me the mic. I'll put it to the test," then we'll leave it in America's hands to decide who's the best!

The one about his dad brought me to tears. It’s what my son will go through because his dad has only seen him a small handful of times since his birth and he’s 6 this year. No birthdays. No christmas. So I felt that pain he conveyed in that poem
