For a night, Richard became the lead singer of Journey. Who does that??? Even if he hadn't won the show, he won so much. WOW!! I am so delighted about all of this. Just a regular ol' guy, middle of America, sweeping floors and singing his heart out, and he wins! It is the greatest story and I had tears when they announced him as the winner. Go go Richard!!!

It's one thing to come on AGT and sing one of the most iconic songs of all time. Richard absolutely nailed it! But to also get the chance to perform with members of the legendary band Journey as well! Wow! Simon was right during the audition, America will love Richard! I bet the kids at his school are bouncing off the walls excited for him! Bravo!! And thank you Heidi for pushing the Golden Buzzer!! In my opinion, this has been one of the best seasons of AGT in a long time! It's as if the theme "Don't Stop Believing" has struck a chord with so many people, not only across the country but around the globe! It's giving everyone a feeling that things are going to get better.

@Me-kael Richard Goodall is amazing. He is good at copying Steve Perry's singing, but his voice is not similar to that. Anel Pineda's voice is much like Steve Perry. And of course, Arnel Pineda sings better than Richard Goodall. I think fans of Richard Goodall should respect Arnel Pineda more. The vocalist of Journey is Arnel. P.s. I'm not Philippino, I'm Korean, and I'm a big fan of Journey.

I can just picture, he’s got his broom in his hand, working his way down the school hallway, singing his heart out. He closes his eyes for a moment, but for once in the thousands of times he’s done this, he wakes up on stage singing with the band behind him. Truly, a dream come true.

March 27: It was my second time back on the show, and I had twenty minutes to scarf down some breakfast at the hotel before my driver arrived to take me to LAX. Other acts were milling about, patting themselves on the back for their taping the day before for Season 19 of "America's Got Talent." Mine hadn't gone so well, but my mind was on the coffee and eggs. Richard Goodall, who had never flown in an airplane before, had just arrived for his taping, sat alone, and I joined him for breakfast. He informed me he was going to sing a Journey song, and he said, "Listen to this." As I listened on his phone, I said, "That's Steve Perry; where are you?" He said, "That is me." I looked over this simple, non-assuming 55-year-old janitor of 23 years from Terre Haute, Indiana, and told him he was going to go all the way. He just shrugged, but I knew it, there and then, and this night proved to be Richard's finest hour.

Thanks for sharing… just knew the first night he would win and was so excited. He is so natural at singing… can you imagine if he gets a coach and works with someone even more? Wow. He is a star w a song!! Tears are flowing. The people in home town helped him get a car and have money for trips… and he got married after his first wife died. God blessed this sweet man.

he isnt band member, he got one song becuase thats what people wanted to see. its a show, lot of pretend no substance. he won, he will get a million - over 40 years - so 20k a year. he has to try to get something going fast or he will be back wiping floors in a few months and crushed dreams. that show is a relaly difficult starting point for a career. only a literal handful made it. i wish him the best tough

Journey is so over-hyped, but it's nothing compared to the unbelievable gushing over this janitor. He is not that good and on this song, he sounds terrible. Everyone who is going crazy for him: would you pay to see him in concert? Would you buy his record? I can't imagine anyone paying to see him in concert (without Journey). He has no stage presence and his voice is just not that good or interesting.

There isn't much in today's mind-numbing, repetitive, manufactured "entertainment" that can cause me to burst out in tears but Richard, his miraculous talent, energy, and the love bursting forth and pouring over him from the audience did it. This kind of person expresses more than just commercial "talent", he channels something from another space that, even though we can't fully explain it, reaches us and touches our hearts and souls. The effect he has on ordinary people says it all.

@@FayeAbram-h7s To be honest, this was his worst of the four performances. I think he was distracted by who was accompanying him, and he didn't put his usual level of passion into the song itself. His singing was fine, but just lacking the deep emotion that was present in the other three.

Neal Schon has always been this cool and giving with the public. Back in the 1980s, he used to show up at a small club in Studio City, CA called Sasch's. He, Mick Fleetwood and other Professionals played for the love of it, basically, and they would invite any singers from the crowd to show up and give it a go with them. I always love Neal and Mick for this treasure. So, its no surprise to me that Neal showed up for this guy. He's always been about that. Love me some Neal Schon !!!

If anyone ever deserved to win AGT it is Richard Goodall so humble and so talented. When I saw his first audition I almost fell out of my chair..he has an amazing voice. Congratulations Richard you really deserve this and I hope you get to read all the comments supporting your amazing win !!!

What a great moment for this gentleman. Even if the 70s & 80s bands don't look like they once did or aren't out touring anymore, there's a reason they "won't go away." It's cuz they stand the test of time. They just don't make 'em like they used to! Gen X really was lucky to grow up w/these bands.

Journey is still touring! Sadly not with Steeve Perry but with Arnel. Would be awesome for them to do with this guy what Queen did with Adam Lambert! Also still touring!

Arnel is really good, though. I think he's the best lead singer they've had since Perry left! Even in their newest album, it feels like an album that was actually MADE in the 80s! They're sticking with who they are and giving us what we want. I can't think of any other album recorded today that sounds like it was made in the 80s!

What got me, when Richard first auditioned, beyond the stunning voice we weren't expecting, is how many people knew this song. This song came out when I was a kid! To see the entire audience, of all ages, all backgrounds, knowing this song and rocking out to this song during the audition, was incredible. For him to be able to sing with Journey - he must have been over the moon. Congratulations, Richard!

I remember, over a decade ago, another incredible voice was discovered on a national talent show (Susan Boyle) and how Happy I was for her. Tonight, I could not be more happy for Richard! He, like Susan, are very humble average people that were likely overlooked based on their looks, confidence and stereotyping over their many years. Both are incredible talents and the World is a much better place when their God given talents are shared with the World. What a wonderful and talented man! May God bless Richard in his new marriage, life and singing career.

Then he opens his mouth to sing and just blows everyone away. Who would have thought? Yes, America and probably people from around the world fell in love with this humble man. I have been a huge Journey fan from the start. I closed my eyes while listening to this and it is the same as listening to the original song with Steve Perry. I am shocked and overwhelmed that someone else actually sounds that close to Perry's voice. The Journey band playing behind Richard with every note perfect is a once in a lifetime moment that will never be recreated. This is one the best things to happen in music history for AGT. Sweeping floors and dreaming of singing with Journey...now this man is a legend. Thank you, Journey... for kindness and support backing Richard, because the fans everywhere still love you.

As long as we still believe in our dreams, no matter where we’re from, we can achieve it. Richard Goodall’s AGT experience was exactly that, a Journey with Journey, and how his middle school students encouraged him to “Don’t Stop Believing!”. A story that went full circle, from the Auditions to the Finale, and a life changing moment that I one will ever forget. He’s a true inspiration & role model for us all, no matter how old or young we are.

Love for Richard from Terre Haute, IN, where the man himself lives. My mother's a pianist and has had the honor of playing along with Richard a handful of times when he would sing at some of the local churches.

This is definitely a legendary moment, wow. To get any band members together after such a long time is a feat within itself, but to also find someone who sounds so similar to the original vocalist after 40 years is a miracle. I can only imagine what he'd sound like with his teeth fixed, as that is really a handicap when it comes to anything speech related. Hope his winning AGT got him the treatment he deserves, and can't wait to hear him in future. That first audition, even the first word, was unforgettable.
