I went to school with Charity. Her singing took our breath away and brought us to tears back then, too. You could hear a pin drop when she sang. We’ve always known that the world would eventually know her name. Not only is she talented beyond belief, but she’s truly such a wonderful person. We’re so proud of you, Charity. 💗

I also have to agree regarding scripted, if for no other reason than the added affects by the soundboard (echo). But one thing Shafoo said that I'd like to point out is "Lets not forget the life this family has been through" and the fact that A.) The family wasn't singing, B.) Even IF the family was singing, anything outside of the two minutes of relevant performance is not germane to the competition. A sad sack show called, This is your Life, is where back stories should be relevant. I liked her personality and her personally, but fairly 'meh' on her performance.

When I first heard Charity it was on a cruise ship I was working/singing on; she was a guest entertainer, playing an Aretha Franklin tribute show. I was so impressed that I cried during the show. The amount of talent, the voice, the charm, and the humor she had on stage were something I've never seen on ships before. Her daughter was a back up vocalist in her show. I asked the daughter, "How come Charity is not famous yet?" She replied, "She never wanted that." Well, I think she deserves to be famous and have her talent shared with the entire world, so I am glad she decided to participate in this contest. She was fantastic at this audition, but trust me, you've seen/heard so little of what she can actually do on stage; her voice and presence are even better than this. I hope she wins. But I am sure she'll get the fame she deserves now, either way.

She's got two strikes against her with 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' from Simon's standpoint no matter how she sings it because that is exactly the kind of song he hates. I'm not sure you're right that it was scripted at all.

Simon does it again! He does this with so many performers. Asks for a second go-around, and he almost always manages to unlock their true potential, that the performer wasn’t showing at first. That’s a _true_ judge.

This was all obviously scripted. Simon didn’t just stop her first performance, with the “assumption” that she had a second song to sing & that AGT had the music to accompany her second song. (or if it was a piano player I’m sure that was worked out in advance it here she knew how to play that song) - Simon was obviously told by the producers of the situation. Of one song is better than the other and she’s gonna start off with the worst song and then and then Simon’s gonna stop her, and then ask her if she has another song.

@@MikeCee7Actually ALL AGT comtestants are told to have 2 songs READY and prepared for their audition. Producers and show-runners on these types of TV talent shows have very little time to "set-up" or "stage" an "impromptu" moment like this. It is VERY expensive to run any of these shows and so much of it is timed so they can fit in all the advertising etc. which by the way is the point of and the way any show on network tv is financed. Not to burst your bubble but as retired PA 🎬 I have some first-hand knowledge. 😊

@bammi4 thanks for your reply. Other people have said that they know it was scripted (from their inside experience) & then take as All the boring stuff. There audition s, are done a few+ months ago on tape. So when they edit the show, all they gotta do is pick and choose which clips are going to be most beneficial, to the show. cut out the clips that are boring and not beneficial. They did these auditions in the cities for two days, and they condense it into two shows of two hours each. - This is not like a daily late night show, where everything has to fit into 44 minutes. & they only have a few hours to edit the show before it airs, the same night at 11:35pm - So I believe you, that all the singers have two songs prepared. But I also believe Simon was time by the producers in advance - & I’ve heard many of the inside stuff from Howard, who was an AGT host for 4 years, and he admitted that some of those things that looks spontaneous, were really scripted. - Like when the contestant first comes out, they host known exactly what question to ask them about their past, that’s relevant to their performance.

Ive had the pleasure of hearing her live in one of her rehearsals when she performed in a cruise ship i was working on,. Let me tell you that her voice is so so so much better LIVE, i was just passing by then but had to stop since her voice feels like its healing my soul,. i met her the next day face to face and told her shes amazing. very humble human being.

@katica04 Because he's done the exact same thing for 15 years on AGT , BGT, X Factor. They set up a good singer with a bad song, Simon stops them, out comes a new song and they kill it so Simon looks like a genius. I've watched these shows for many years and have seen it a lot. It was OK the first 3-4 times, now it's just tired and old.

I like her voice quality, the low notes is soothing to the ears and her high notes doesn't hurt my ears. Very very good 👍 My only caution: always choose the right song for your voice and your going straight to the finals.
