This is one of the most deserved golden buzzer I have ever seen. A 50 year old janitor who seems shy and nervous with a beautiful voice. This to me is what this show is about.

I watch several Got Talent clips, mostly America and Britain though. One thing I do notice is on BGT the judges hit the golden buzzer in the moment of emotion, like after the song when everyone is cheering, and on AGT the judges hit the golden buzzer while giving their summary of the performance, thus taking part in the emotional moment instead of giving the emotional moment to the performer.

On Canada's Got Talent all Golden Buzzers receive $25,000 (tax free) & top prize is $1,000,000 Canadian (roughly about $730,000 - tax free). Pretty disappointed that AGT buzzers don't win anything, He really deserves $25,000!

He spent 23 years cleaning as a janitor. At the age of 55, he rode an airplane for the first time to pursue his dream. Alone and nervous, he sang at one of the most prestigious talent shows in the world and received the golden buzzer. Mr. Richard didn't stop believing.

Hello ~ 🦋 I was a student in a school where Mr. Richard worked as a janitor. I can tell you that all the kids looked up to him. He inspired us to find our own talents & work hard. Mr. Richard is such a sweet, shy & humble man. And a great singer deserving of this opportunity on AGT! Everyone hearing him sing on AGT has been given hope that their dreams can come true if they, too, "don't stop believing & hold on to the feeling". THANK YOU so Much, Mr. Richard! 💙 And much gratitude to the songwriters - Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon & Steve Perry who inspired so many with their words! A special THANK YOU to Steve Perry for a song that will live forever in so many hearts! 💙

They were screaming and crying tears of happiness for Mr. Richard last night with their friends, I was right there with them, as was the entire Vigo County community! We are SO excited for him! My Dad was the Custodian at a middle high school for 2 decades back in the 70s/80s. When he had a heart attack, several kids went to the hospital and said they were his kids in order to see him. They made a card that was 3 ft tall by 2 ft wide, and most of the school signed it with well wishes. I had the best Dad ever and I was so proud of him. He got better and went on to live another 30 years before passing. The kids at his school had a huge welcome back party for him, and they even all cleaned up afterwards. He was very popular in our city as he also did tons of charity work. I never felt shame of his job. Besides, here in Canada, he was making good money at that time since he was in a Union. 😊

Richard Goodall stole America's hearts last night on "America's Got Talent." I had the chance to have breakfast with Richard at the hotel on the morning I was on my way out after my previous night's taping, and he had just come in for his. The simple, genuine, and unassuming man I had the opportunity to get to know was just humbled to be there and had no lofty expectations. This weary nation needs a hero-it needs a dear soul like Richard Goodall, and he has stepped up to the plate and given it one. So many people feel as if they are without hope these days. Richard Goodall, a janitor from Indiana, just gave it to millions of them.

Richard, You Sir are absolutely the meaning of the Journey song "Don't stop Believin"! I'm 46, a disabled Military veteran and my daughter, family and friends have been telling me to give it a shot at singing too. Thanks to you, i will be taking what my family and friends tell me about my singing more seriously. Thank you for helping me gather the courage to get out there and show people what i can do by singing. I'm so proud of you for listening to those around you and the kids who look up to you at the school you work at. You worked hard for long enough, now its time for you to reap the rewards thru this golden buzzer making your dream come true. I will be following your story and i cant wait to see you continuing to make your dream a reality. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm HONORED to have found you. You are a blessing in disguise. As they say in the navy to others we come across " Fair winds and Following seas", Keep stepping forward and keep charging, don't let anything stop you. The story of Richard is the whole package. It should be a movie. There are people, yes, that never go far from their hometown. The more I thought about his courage to get on a plane, it wasn't just that, it was to get on a plane to go to a national international TV show and stand up before a crowd of what 3,000 people and judges and all the sound and noise and everything in a television production you are not used to? I can certainly understand his nerves but aside from that he gave an incredible performance. I just hope that he takes his experience as far as he wishes it to and I hope he enjoys the experience. But more so I hope that people don't take advantage of him. He's in a very elite group of people that include Paul Potts and Susan Boyle and maybe one or two other people that came from nothing to be on that show and their whole life changed from all the attention and the accolades. I really hope he does well and enjoys his time in California and on the show. There are thousands of people rooting for him. Well done, Richard!!

"You know it’s been a long time coming" is the first line of the first single Steve Perry released after a 22 year hiatus in his career as a recording artist. Richard is obviously a admirer of his, and Mr. Perry is an admirer of Richard Goodall. He has given him shout outs on social media before.

It was definitely the first note, and a lot of times for me that's how it is with certain singers. It's actually very rare to start that way and them also to keep it up. There was hardly any moments that he swayed. He lacked a tad a few but overall he kept that momentum going and you could tell it was the crowds reaction that helped him feel confident to keep going strong. He's one of the strongest feeds off the crowd I've ever seen.
