Brilliant. I am a 59 year-old American woman. I have lived in Hawaii for 13 years and have been told many times that I seem like I am from New York. When I lived in Los Angeles in my twenties, people often told me that I seemed like I was from New York. I have never been to New York City, but it is on my Bucket List. Coincidentally or interestingly or ironically or whatever, I often describe my husband of 25 years as "Italian from The Jerz." Lawrence loves me but does not really get why so many people find me funny. Hah! Our 23 year-old daughter Lily thinks I am very funny and also appreciates that I am so "real." I saw another commenter here said, "she says what other people think." Agreed. I loved her whole audition, but my favorite moment was when she told "Chad" that what "happened" was that "his mother forgot her birth control in 1999." Really good. Her description of "Chad" and his "man bun" conjured an image in my mind, and I instantly disliked him on her behalf. : ) Coincidentally, Lawrence is also from a big Catholic family, and Lily was born in 1999. This woman's routine (Maureen?) was funny, smart, well-delivered, well-paced, and otherwise great, but it particularly resonated for me. Hah! Thank you. : )

I realized retroactively as I was sharing this video with my "Italian from The Jerz" that I got a couple of things wrong in my previous comment. Maureen is not Italian. She is Irish and Catholic like Joe Biden. Obviously. Her name is Maureen. : ) Also, the "ponytail guy" is not Chad. In my defense, I was quietly watching this at 4:00 in the morning on my phone with a cup of coffee because Lawrence was still sleeping. Anyhoo, he also thought Maureen was hilarious. Good stuff. : )

She's absolutely right. Though I don't come from an Irish-Catholic family, I know all too well those times when the whole extended family begrudgingly assembles into one room with each other. Everybody's ranting and no one's listening. There's only two ways to be heard: you either cut through the chaos with volume and razor-sharp wit or your break a beer bottle over the table and brandish it in someone's face. Sigh....good times.
